Fly-A-Thon: Mystery Material Challenge

Get ready for one of the most exciting and high-energy Fly-A-Thons we’ve ever hosted—a fast-paced, competitive tying event packed with creativity, prizes, and friendly rivalry!

Grab a beer, settle in, and prepare for the Mystery Material Challenge:

How many different fly patterns can you tie using the mystery material within the time limit?

You won’t know the material until the clock starts, and once it’s revealed, the race is on. Every fly must feature the mystery material, and you can tie anything you want—nymphs, dries, streamers, emergers, soft hackles—whatever you can create under pressure.

Competition Categories

This year’s Fly-A-Thon will feature three judged categories, each with its own prize:

• Most Complete Lifecycle of an Insect
• (Show us the nymph, emerger, adult—whatever stages you can craft using the mystery material.)
• Single Best Fly
• (Overall creativity, fishability, and craftsmanship.)
• Single Best Streamer
• (Your chance to get flashy, fishy, or downright wild.)

Knot-Tying Challenge

We’re also adding a fast, fun side competition:

The HPD Knot Breaker Challenge

Tie your strongest knot and put it to the test on the HPD Knot Breaker machine.

Prize goes to the strongest knot of the night.

Plus: Door Prizes

We’ll have some great door prizes throughout the evening, so everyone has a shot at winning something—no matter their tying speed or skill level.

Bring your creativity, speed, tying skills, and knot-tying confidence.

This Fly-A-Thon is for members only, and it’s shaping up to be one of our best events yet. Let’s see what you can create when the clock is running and the prizes are on the line!
